PennDOT Completes Smithbridge Road Bridge Replacement Project over Webb Creek in Concord Township

04/19/2024

King of Prussia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge carrying Smithbridge Road over Webb Creek has reopened following the completion of a $1.7 million project to replace the 96-year-old structure in Concord Township, Delaware County.

The bridge had been closed since July 14, 2023, following a bridge inspection that determined structure deterioration and increased undermining due to storms.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor replaced the existing 20-foot-long, reinforced concrete T-beam bridge with a single-cell, cast-in-place, concrete box culvert. Stream stabilization and protection was also performed under this project.

Road-Con Inc. of West Chester, Chester County, was the general contractor on this bridge replacement project, which was financed with 100 percent state funds.
