Department of Finance Named GFOA Triple Crown Winner for FY 2020

Recognizing Denver's strong financial management and excellent reporting, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), North America's leading association for government finance expertise, has named the City and County of Denver as a 2020 Triple Crown Winner. Denver is one of only 317 governments to receive the Triple Crown, which recognizes governments who have received GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

"Strong financial management and fiscal responsibility are hallmarks of Denver's financial practices" said Chief Financial Officer Margaret Danuser. "The award recognizes Denver's comprehensive work to increase transparency and equitable access to information about Denver's financial health."

The Triple Crown designation represents a significant achievement. To qualify, each entity must meet the high standards of all three separate award programs. Each award program recognizes governments that produce reports which communicate their financial stories in a transparent manner and meet applicable standards.
