Press Release
$85,147 will go toward plastics injection molding equipment project

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) announced Friday that the Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded an $85,137 grant to Pennsylvania College of Technology that will be used to help purchase state-of-the-art injection molding equipment for the Plastics Innovation and Resource Center.

The grant award matches a local contribution of $85,137 for total project assistance of $170,274.

The new equipment will be used by 60 workers and 20 students to learn plastics injection molding techniques on the latest equipment. Penn Tech is one of only six institutions nationwide to offer plastics degrees accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission.

On the grant award, Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) made the following statement:

'Penn Tech is one of the nation's leading post-secondary career and technical institutions and our team often hears about employers in central and northeastern Pennsylvania looking to hire Penn Tech graduates because of their incredible training.

'The equipment to be purchased as a result of this grant money will allow students and those looking for the most up-to-date skills in plastic injection molding to have the latest equipment and remain on the cutting edge of plastics education.

'I look forward to working with government partners at the local, state, and federal level to continue to ensure Penn Tech has the resources it needs to remain a national leader in career and technical education and training for in-demand jobs.'
