In a recent article in Public Health Reports, University of Arizona and Arizona Department of Health Services researchers guided the development of a statewide, evidence-based pain and addition curriculum for all health care provider types. Researchers facilitated meetings with a workgroup of deans and curriculum representatives from all 18 health care provider programs in Arizona. Workgroup members reviewed existing curricula, created a philosophical framework, and developed a curriculum that met the needs of all program types. The finalized curriculum consists of ten core components with detailed evidence-based objectives and aims to redefine pain and addiction as multidimensional public health issues.
