Forest Service Accepting Public Comment on Environmental Assessment of Jug Handle Project

Marienville, PA, May 16, 2022 - The US Department of Agriculture, Forest Service is accepting public review and comment for the Jug Handle Vegetation Management Project in the Marienville Ranger District, Forest County, Pennsylvania.

The project area is located northwest of Marienville, Pennsylvania, and encompasses approximately 21,717 acres of National Forest System land. Maps are available at Forest Service (usda.gov).

The Jug Handle Environmental Assessment project has proposed management activities that will include vegetation treatments, timber harvesting, landscape-level prescribed burning, wildlife habitat improvements, non-native invasive plant species treatments, and transportation activities. Comments must be submitted within 30 days of publication of the legal notice in The Kane Republican. The input received will help us refine the proposed action. Comments received, including the names and addresses of those who comment, will be available for public inspection as part of the project record.
