Rep. Maloney Secures Hurricane Ida Assistance for NY-18 WASHINGTON - After requests from Representatives Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) and Antonio Delgado (NY-19), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced funding to assist Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam Counties with Hurricane Ida response efforts. This funding can be used for emergency work, debris removal, and the repair and replacement of disaster-damaged roads, bridges, and public facilities.

"This is big. After working tirelessly with state and local officials, I am proud to announce we've secured more disaster aid for the Hudson Valley," said Rep. Maloney. "This money is key to helping our cities, towns, and villages repair roads and bridges damaged during Ida. I will continue to push for all and any further assistance the Hudson Valley needs to get back to business. We aren't going to leave our local governments on the hook for the cost of this recovery."

On September 9, U.S. Representatives Maloney and Delgado urged President Joe Biden to stand ready to expeditiously approve aid to Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. The letter followed a successful request for an Emergency Declaration, which provided direct federal assistance and reimbursement for mass care, including evacuation and shelter support.

"State and federal experts have estimated that this storm caused more than $50 million in damage to public infrastructure and property, while more than 1,200 residences suffered damage. While there was significant damage in Westchester County and New York City, counties in the Hudson Valley have also experienced significant damage because of Hurricane Ida and require federal assistance," wrote the Representatives.

"These communities, homeowners, and small businesses need robust federal aid in order to recover," continued the Representatives.
