HUD AWARDS $17.6 MILLION TO IMPROVE, PRESERVE PUBLIC HOUSING IN NEBRASKA
Housing authorities will use funding to modernize housing for families, seniors

NEBRASKA - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today awarded $17.6 million in funding to 96 public housing authorities (PHAs) in Nebraska to make capital investments in their public housing properties.

Today's grant is part of $3.2 billion in Fiscal Year 2022 Capital Fund Program Awards to 2,813 PHAs in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. View a complete list of all the communities who received funding.

"This funding invests in our public housing authorities which provide critical services and housing for some of Nebraska's low-income families and individuals; including the disabled and elderly." said Regional Administrator Ulysses M. Clayborn. "Our housing authorities will use these resources to expand our voucher programs, and provide housing stability for residents in Nebraska with the highest need".

HUD's Public Housing Capital Fund Program offers annual funding to all public housing authorities to build, renovate, and/or modernize the public housing in their communities. PHAs can use the funding to complete large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating systems and installing water conservation measures.
