As part of a two-way brigade tactical exercise at the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region, the crews of Ka-52 helicopters of the 4th air force and air defence army provided air support to the actions of motorized rifle units.
On the tactical field, T-72B3 tanks, light armored tractors, 'Grad' multiple rocket launchers, 'Gvozdika' self-propelled howitzers, and 'Sani' mortar systems fired at the advancing 'enemy'.
The crews of Ka-52 'Alligator' reconnaissance and attack helicopters provided air support to the defending units. The air lines were covered by the crews of self-propelled anti-aircraft installations 'Shilka', and the crews of unmanned aircraft systems 'Orlan-10' coordinated the actions of an joint-force group of troops to inflict fire damage to a mock enemy.
The two-way tactical exercise involved up to 4,000 military personnel and more than 1,500 units of military equipment, including about 20 aircraft and more than 60 helicopters.
