Friday, when the Vikings host No. 7 Concordia - St. Paul, will be the first of five currently ranked opponents that Augustana will host this season in conference play. Friday's match against Concordia - St. Paul is 'Pink Night' in recognition of survivors and awareness for breast cancer.
The Golden Bears (9-3, 3-1 NSIC)
No. 7 Concordia - St. Paul is coming off hosting No. 3 Minnesota Duluth and No. 12 St. Cloud State in which they split the weekend.
The Golden Bears are led by Jasmine Mulvihill with 3.40 kills per set which ranks eighth in the NSIC. Payton Nutter has compiled 7.20 assists on the season while Erin Fallert averages 2.94 kills per set on a .265 attacking percentage. Defensively, Tori Hanson averages 4.60 digs per set and Kennedy Brady has sent back 1.04 blocks per set.
The Mavericks (9-3, 2-2 NSIC)
Minnesota State is coming off a tough weekend hosting the No. 3 team in Minnesota Duluth and No. 12 St. Cloud State.
The Mavericks are led by Morgan Olson with 4.57 kills per set on a .355 attacking percentage which ranks second in the NSIC. Dana Schindler averages 8.85 assists per set to lead the team. Defensively, Mara Quam has recorded 4.22 digs per set and Anissa Janzig has compiled 34 total blocks on the season.
As a team, MSU averages 13.2 kills per set, 12.4 assists per set and 1.6 aces per set. The defense averages 13.4 blocks per set and 13.4 digs per set.
The Vikings (10-3, 2-1 NSIC)
Augustana is coming off a weekend sweep against UMary and Minot State.
Sophomore recorded her sixth double-double against Minot State when she tied her career-high with 50 assists and had 14 digs. Thorson averages 10.36 assists per set which ranks seventh in the NSIC and 31st in the nation. Freshman came on strong and led the Vikings with 16 kills against Minot State.
Sophomore earned a career-high 14 kills against Minot State and now averages 2.35 kills per set. Sophomore leads the way on the defensive side as she has sent back 41 total blocks (1.08 b/s) which ranks sixth in the NSIC and 47th in the nation.
One Last Thing
Freshman earned her first career NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honor on Sept. 30. The Alden, Minnesota, native averaged 6.8 digs per set (75 total) against then No. 17 Wayne State, UMary and Minot State. She tallied 28 digs in a nonconference match versus Wayne State and against Minot State. Bute averaged seven digs per set versus then Wayne State and Minot State. During the season, she ranks first in NSIC with 6.26 digs per set and ranks sixth in the nation.
