Akin Gump Success at Law.com International’s The Middle East Legal Awards 2022

(Abu Dhabi, Dubai) - Akin Gump is pleased to announce that it has won the "Innovation through Technology - Private Practice" category at The Middle East Legal Awards 2022.

The award was given in recognition of Akin Gump's interactive platform Overruled, which was designed to alleviate the burden of over-regulation for in-house lawyers and compliance practitioners.

Overruled provides a suite of tools related to U.S. sanctions and export control enforcement enabling users to search for and analyze previously unsearchable enforcement actions, identify agency-issued guidance and calculate estimated penalties for suspected violations. The platform utilizes heat maps and dynamic graphs to help users visualize raw data.

With the rapidly evolving legal changes resulting from Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Overruled pre-launched a subscription-based service for clients to track these changes. Over 200 client users now have access to Overruled's Russia Trade Controls Resource Center for this purpose, ahead of the full Overruled launch later this year.

The Middle East Legal Awards, run by Law.com, recognize exceptional achievement and best practice in the region and within the profession. Winners were decided by an external judging panel made up of respected individuals from the business and legal industries.
