Deputy Minister Boitumelo Moloi hosts a breakfast session in celebration of a successful partnership in the Cape Winelands District, 13 May

Private-public partnerships work. This is the message from the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour, Ms Boitumelo Moloi who will be hosting a breakfast session in celebration of a successful partnership in the Cape Winelands District.

The partnership, which dates back to 2017 and is in line with key elements recognized by the International Labour Organization, has seen employers engaging services of the Department through the Public Employment Services to source workers for the food processing industry in the area. The employers are the Langeberg & Ashton Foods (LAF); Rhodes Food Group (RFG) and Ceres Fruit Growers (CFG).

This was done through recruitment projects that seek to facilitate the updating of individual work seeker profiles to suit the needs of potential employers. Furthermore, PES has provided links to other departmental services like the social relief funds Unemployment Insurance Fund and the Compensation Fund.

Through the office of the Deputy Director, Labour Centre Operations in Worcester, officers are released to take onsite UIF benefit applications and also link with CF colleagues in the submission of return of earnings reports (RoE) and facilitate the submission of reports for injuries on duty.

The representatives from the companies will speak about the project and the difference it has made while the Deputy Minister will acknowledge the role of the department and the future of more partnerships as well as forming part of the President's job creation drive.
