Motor boat towed to safety by Sheerness RNLI all weather lifeboat.

The Sheerness RNLI lifeboat crew responded after a call for help was received from a motor boat which had suffered mechanical failure off the Isle of Sheppey.

The volunteer crew of the Sheerness RNLI all weather lifeboat were tasked by the UK Coastguard at 4.14pm on Thursday 20 June 2019 to a 25 foot motor boat with one man onboard that was in difficulty, having suffered total mechanical failure, off the coast from Sheerness.

The lifeboat launched at 4.26pm, made visual contact with the casualty at 4.40pm and came alongside five minutes later so that a crew member could be transferred to assist in securing a tow line to the craft.

Having secured the towline, the casualty was then towed to the safety of Queenborough harbour where it was made secure at 5.50pm

The ALB was back on station and ready for service at 6.00pm

Wind WSW 4/5, sea state smooth with good visibility.
