Suozzi: “Largest Ever Federal Investment for Bridge Repair is on its way to New York”

Glen Cove, New York -As one of the lead negotiators in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Package, today Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-New York) announced that New York will receive $1.9 billion over 5 years and $37 million 8 for the fiscal year 2022 in Federal funds for bridge repairs. This first round of funds represents one of the largest ever Federal investments for infrastructure repair and development and will help create thousands of jobs across the state.

In the coming months, and even years, more funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure package will be announced - as this package represents a once-in-a-lifetime investment in job development and infrastructure repair.

"Money is on the way to New York! I was proud to help negotiate and help pass a once in a generation bipartisan infrastructure bill,"said Suozzi. "We are now seeing the real-life impact this legislation will provide to New York. It will rebuild our state and put thousands to work."

This first allocation of Federal funds, which Suozzi helped negotiate for, will be distributed to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). From there, the state will identify "small bridges" across the state that need to be replaced, rehabilitated, preserved, protected, or reconstructed.
