3rd Phase of Made Onlife

The first edition of Made On-life in Venice is nearing its end. The project was developed in collaboration with the City of Venice, Facebook Italia and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to promote and concretely support SMEs to experiment new communication models, promote and support digital transformation and reinforce collaboration between the public and private spheres.

Last Tuesday, May 4, during a webinar with Commerce Councillor Sebastiano Costalonga, three case studies were selected involving high school students.

The project includes on-demand video lessons and interactive webinars (various levels) based on the digital-skills-level of participants. Over 1200 Venetians followed the video lessons, 87 SMEs registered in the educational programme and over 250 participants attended the 3 webinars. This includes 29 companies that were interested in participating in the prototyping phase with schools in the Venice and Mestre area.

'The appreciation questionnaire completed by participants,' explain the organisers, 'confirm that the experience fulfilled the expectations and that the content proved of interest. In fact, 94.9% of interviewees replied they would like to participate in further editions.' The Fondazione Mondo Digitale has created an internal jury, with the participation of external coaches, that evaluated the questionnaires transmitted to the 29 candidates and selected the following finalists: Sabrina Sanna, Alberto Jimenez and Rosalba Giorcelli, managers of three different local companies.

'I would like to thank all participants,' declared Costalonga, 'for their commitment to 'Made Onlife' a project that immediately convinced me. Today, digitalisation and web communication are an integral part of our daily life and the training of SMEs to use these tools to communicate directly with clients are a key part of an increasingly smart and digital future. Only those who are willing to open up to innovation will have that extra gear with which to face the upcoming world. I would also like to mention the participants who were not selected and urge them to increase their presence on digital media. The council will help them develop projects to digitally transform our companies.'

Now, the selected companies will be studied by students. 'I would like to wish my best to the students who, this week, will begin a different type of lesson,' added Educational Policy Councillor Laura Besio. 'On-field learning will allow them to participate in the life of the city, not only safeguarding its history with the true protagonists of economic and social life, but also to provide a service to the community. This will certainly provide added value to the school and the development of the students as citizens of Venice working to help enterprises and craftsmen during this recovery period.'

'The ongoing health emergency and crisis could provide a precious opportunity to develop new business paradigms,' points out Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, 'and the success of Project 'Made Onlife in Venice' proves this. About 90 SMEs were involved in the initial phases; now, high school students will work along with the entrepreneurs to promote the digital transformation of the companies.'

The three selected companies underlined their comprehension of the potential of an efficient marketing strategy that will allow them to communicate with the new generations to keep alive their unique and traditional activities.
