San Antonio (October 21, 2021) - Today, City Council voted to Marilu Reyna to the San Antonio Water System Board of Trustees Southeast Quadrant which has been vacant since June 2021. Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran released the statement below:

"I am extremely pleased with City Council moving forward today. This was the second time the City of San Antonio Governance Committee extended the deadline for applicants and because of this decisive process we have true representation in the southeastern quadrant. I have had the opportunity of knowing Ms. Reyna for several years and her motivation has always been her passion, as she has always served with integrity and professionalism. Diversity on the SAWS Board of Trustees is a top priority for me and having an applicant that has strong roots and family connections in the south and southeastern part of our city is important, as this brings out different experiences from different people with different socio-economic backgrounds. I'm a strong believer in collaboration, and with Marliu Reyna's appointment to the San Antonio Water System Board of Trustees, we now have a collective group of diverse, knowledgeable, and passionate community leaders who have demonstrated their commitment to improving outcomes and needs of the people SAWS serves who are the rate payers."

The San Antonio Water System Board of Trustees is vested with the complete management, control, and operation of the Water System. The Board controls the expenditure and application of the revenues of the System and makes recommendations to the City Council concerning rates, fees, and changes for services rendered by the System.
