Statement of ABA President Reginald Turner on Constitution Day

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2021 - The American Bar Association today celebrates the 234th anniversary of the United States Constitution, the document that has provided the framework for our democracy and the rule of law in America.

As lawyers, we swore an oath to support the Constitution. That means supporting, promoting, and protecting the ideals the Constitution embodies.

Our Constitution will remain sustainable only if we all remain dedicated to its protection.

The ABA is the largest voluntary association of lawyers in the world. As the national voice of the legal profession, the ABA works to improve the administration of justice, promotes programs that assist lawyers and judges in their work, accredits law schools, provides continuing legal education, and works to build public understanding around the world of the importance of the rule of law.
