Lane Closure Planned on Interstate 90 (Exit 406) Reconstruction Project in Brandon

BRANDON, S.D. - On Monday, April 1, 2024, two-way traffic will begin on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 between mile markers 405 and 407 as part of the exit 406 reconstruction project in Brandon. The speed limit will be reduced to 65 mph and a 12-foot width restriction will be in place. On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, traffic on S.D. Highway 11, starting at Redwood Boulevard north to exit 406, will be reduced to two-way traffic. Access to local businesses will be maintained during grading and paving operations.

This reconstruction project replaces the existing interchange with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI).The on and off-ramps at exit 406 will remain open for the 2024 construction season, however motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

The prime contractor for the $41.3 million project is T&R Contracting, Inc. of Sioux Falls, SD. The overall completion date for this multi-year project is Friday, June 19, 2026. For more information, contactMichael Noonan, Project Engineer, at 605-367-5680or via email at [email protected].
