TROOP F NEWS RELEASE
November 9, 2018
Unrestrained Passenger Killed in Morehouse Parish Crash
Preliminary investigation revealed that 31-year-old Dallas Lee of Bastrop was driving a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria south on US Hwy 165. For reasons still under investigation, Lee lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road to the left. The Crown Victoria then struck a large tree on the passenger side.
Brooks, the front seat passenger, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Lee, who was properly restrained, received minor injuries during the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to 'buckle up!' Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes.
In 2018, Troop F has investigated 32 fatal crashes resulting in 36 deaths.
