September 2020 North American Transborder Freight Up 3.2% from August 2020

Rail Freight: $13.8 billion (14.3% of all transborder freight)

U.S.-Canada: $7.5 billion (15.6% of all northern border freight)
U.S.-Mexico: $6.3 billion (13.0% of all southern border freight)
  • Compared to September 2019:
  • Three busiest rail border ports (59.4% of total transborder rail freight)
    • Laredo, TX $3.6 billion
    • Detroit, MI $2.4 billion
    • Eagle Pass, TX $2.2 billion
  • Top three rail commodities (61.0% of total transborder rail freight)
    • Motor vehicles and parts $6.9 billion
    • Wood and articles thereof $0.8 billion
    • Mineral fuels $0.8 billion

Total Transborder Freight by Mode:

U.S.-Canada (both directions)
U.S.-Mexico (both directions)
