Position Vacancy - Information Technology Officer (Developer)

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (Developer)
(NARI Salary Grade 3 - 5)

The National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) is the lead research organization, conducting and fostering applied and development-oriented research in agriculture and rural development sectors in Papua New Guinea. The Institute also provides analytical, diagnostic and advisory services to the agriculture sector.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced citizen persons for the Information Technology Officer (Developer): NARI Salary Grade 3 - 5

The position is based at NARI head office and will be reporting to Program Director - Information and Knowledge.

The appointee will be responsible for developing components of a web-based information system using Postgresql and PHP. He/ she will also be responsible for redevelopment and management of the Institute web site and development of mobile Apps.

Additional responsibilities of the appointee will be to train others in content mark up and uploading or adding to the web and other Apps.

The appointee must hold a degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of three years of work experiences. Candidates who have significant and demonstrable experiences in database and web information systems development are also eligible to apply.

Experience in Postgresql and web technologies is essential for this work. Additional experience with Android App development will be a distinct advantage.

The appointee needs to be a self starter who can adapt and learn quickly on the job. The Institute uses the latest PHPMaker web application development system and DBAppMaker and ReadingAppBuilder mobile App development tools.

General:

Remuneration grade and salary levels will depend on qualifications, experience and the ability of the appointee. Salaries and benefits include base salary, domestic market allowance, gratuity, superannuation, leave fares, amenities allowances, medical & life insurance and housing or housing allowance.
