Burbank Cultural Arts Commission invites you to Virtually Burbank: Vino and van Gogh

Burbank, CA (June 9, 2022) - The Burbank Cultural Arts Commission is pleased to present "Virtually Burbank: Vino and van Gogh" on Thursday, June 16 at 7:30 PM. The virtual event will be streamed on the Burbank Arts Facebook and Instagram pages. The event will feature two of life's great pleasures - art and wine! Join Cultural Arts Commissioner and Art Historian Katherine Zoraster and local business Urban Press Winery's winemaker Francois Cordesse as they take us through the many flavors of art and wine - all from the comfort of your home!

  • Katherine Zoraster is an Art Historian, teacher, and Art Muse guide. Pairing art with wine, this discussion about Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh will focus on his time spent in Arles, near the Southern winemaking region. This was the most productive time of van Gogh's career and where he developed his distinctive style of bright, complementary colors and vivid, impasto brushwork.

  • Francois Cordesse is a formally trained master winemaker with almost 30 years of experience working hands-on in France, Australia, and California. He holds a master's degree in Enology and Viticulture from the University of Montpellier, France. Upon graduation, he began working as a winemaker for Domaine Saint Hilaire in Beziers, France, and won multiple awards for his wine. In 1996, he was recruited by a California winery in the Sierra Nevada foothills. He has stayed in California and has been a lead winemaker in Ione, CA, Santa Rosa, CA and the Sonoma County regions.

  • About Virtually Burbank
In 2020, the Commission entered the virtual landscape with the Virtually Burbank series. Thanks to the participation of Burbank's creative community, these events connected artists and the community-at-large as we all navigated a complicated year together. Last year, with the world opening up a little more, the Commission returned for a new season of Virtually Burbank events, spotlighting the creative work happening around town.
