State Police arrest a Rochester man after a pursuit in the city

On May 7, 2024, at approximately 6:19 p.m., the SP Rochester Gun Involved Violence Elimination Unit (GIVE) initiated a traffic stop on a 2012 Subaru Outback on Hudson Avenue near Weeger Street in the city of Rochester. The suspect vehicle fled, and a pursuit was initiated, traversing several city streets.

The suspect stopped in front of 532 Upper Falls Boulevard in the city of Rochester, exiting the vehicle while it was still in motion. The suspect and sole occupant, Charles Q. Reed, age 36, of Rochester, NY, fled on foot and went into his apartment, where he barricaded himself. Subsequent to hours of negotiations, Reed was taken into custody.

Reed was charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd (A Misdemeanor), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd (A Misdemeanor), and traffic infractions. Reed was taken to Monroe County Jail for CAP arraignment.
