UToledo to Celebrate Graduates at Spring Commencement Ceremonies



The University of Toledo will recognize the Class of 2024 during spring commencement ceremonies in May.

Graduation celebrations begin with a doctoral hooding and graduate ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, May 3, inside John F. Savage Arena.

For the spring 2024 commencement weekend of May 3 through May 5, UToledo will confer more than 2,500 degrees and graduate certificates.

Two undergraduate ceremonies are scheduled at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Savage Arena on Saturday, May 4.

During the morning ceremony, undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Letters, John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation, Judith Herb College of Education and College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will be recognized. The keynote speaker will be the Honorable Randy Gardner, former chancellor of the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio senator.

Noted Toledo jazz singer Ramona Collins will perform the national anthem at the morning ceremony.

In the afternoon, undergraduate students in the College of Engineering, College of Health and Human Services, College of Nursing and University College will be recognized. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Romules Durant, chief executive officer and superintendent of Toledo Public Schools and three-time alumnus of UToledo.

The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences will host a separate ceremony for degree candidates at Savage Arena at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, and the College of Law will recognize juris doctor candidates at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in the Lancelot Thompson Student Union Auditorium.

UToledo is set to confer more than 2,500 degrees and graduate certificates throughout the weekend, including 189 doctoral, 558 master's, 1,507 bachelor's and 83 associate's degrees, as well as 112 juris doctors.

The College of Medicine and Life Sciences will recognize an additional 161 candidates for doctor of medicine degrees at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Savage Arena.

"Congratulations to the Class of 2024! We're excited to join these graduates in celebrating their hard work and to welcome them to our alumni family," UToledo President Gregory Postel said. "As UToledo graduates, this class has a strong foundation for future successes and will join a network of support spread across the globe. We can't wait to see what they'll do next."

Due to capacity and fire code regulations, tickets are required for admission to commencement ceremonies.
