Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE Meets with Wang Yi

On March 27, 2021 local time, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Wang first conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to Mohammed. Wang Yi said, the China-UAE cooperation is comprehensive and the bilateral relations of the two countries has set a unique example. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and also the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE. The respective development of both countries as well as China-UAE relations are at a new historical starting point. China is ready to work with the UAE to implement the consensus reached between the two leaders, build the cooperation projects in various fields, and deliver greater development of the China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership in the new area.

Wang Yi said, China appreciates the UAE side for abiding by the one-China principle, and understanding and supporting China's legitimate position on issues related to its core interests and major concerns. China fully supports the UAE in safeguarding sovereignty, security and stability, independently exploring the path of development, fighting religious extremists and playing a bigger role in international and regional affairs. China is willing to stand together with the UAE for the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, a basic norm governing international relations, and uphold the principle of sovereign equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. The two countries should continue to strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation, and actively explore tripartite cooperation on vaccines to benefit more countries. The two sides should promote better connectivity between China's Belt and Road Initiative and the UAE's 50-year National Development Plan, and deepen practical cooperation in such areas as energy, finance and high and new technology. China is ready to make joint efforts with the UAE to promote a program that aims to provide Chinese language lessons in 100 schools, and to support each other in hosting the World Expo in Dubai and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Mohammed asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings and good wishes to President Xi Jinping, congratulated the CPC on the 100th anniversary of its founding, and wishes China continued prosperity and progress. Mohammed said, the UAE attaches great importance to its special comprehensive strategic partnership with China, and is very proud of the achievements of the two countries' relations. The UAE appreciates China's support of COVID-19 vaccines to help the country control the pandemic, which has fully demonstrated the friendship and strong bilateral relations between the two countries. The UAE fully supports China in hosting a successful Winter Olympic Games, looks forward to the continuous strengthening of bilateral relations, and warmly welcomes China to play a greater role in peace and stability in the Middle East.

During his visit to the UAE, Wang Yi is also scheduled to hold talks with UAE's Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
