Fortenberry’s Recovering America’s Wildlife Act Passes Key House Committee

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01) made the following statement today after the pioneering conservation initiative, Recovering America's Wildlife Act (RAWA), passed the House Natural Resources Committee.

"This is a tremendously exciting day for everyone who cares about the great outdoors and our environmental security. After years of advocacy, our bipartisan Recovering America's Wildlife Act (RAWA) just passed out of the House Natural Resources Committee," Fortenberry said.

"The single most exciting fish and wildlife protection policy in decades, RAWA is a bold, collaborative upstream initiative that promotes continuity of habit while avoiding the costly, invasive downstream emergency room procedures of the Endangered Species Act. It's why we have a diverse group of persons from across the political landscape--hunters, hikers, anglers, birders--aligned so beautifully around it. Today's committee action is a critical step in RAWA's long journey into law," Fortenberry added.

"Thank you to my partner in this effort, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, for helping make this day possible," Fortenberry said.
