RUC Students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Share Views on Xi’s Speech

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee visited Renmin University of China (RUC) on April 25 in Beijing ahead of China's Youth Day. In his speech to students at RUC, Xi encouraged the young people across the country to study hard and contribute to national rejuvenation.

RUC teachers and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan shared their views after listening to the speech.

Lin Chengduo from Taiwan studied in mainland China and became an associate professor of Economics in RUC after graduation. He said that over the past years, more and more young people in Taiwan chose to develop in Mainland China thanks to the policy support in education, entrepreneurship, employment and living. As a teacher at RUC, he will keep improving his expertise and teaching skills to help build RUC into a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.

Wu Dianyi, an undergraduate student from the School of Information Resource Management, said that as a student from Taiwan who has studied in RUC for four years, she would like to act as a bridge, connecting both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and to contribute to the peaceful and integrated development of cross-Strait relations.

Lin Xiaoxin, a Macao undergraduate at the School of International Studies, said that she would continue her postgraduate studies and strive to work hard for a better future of Macao.

Chen Zilin from Macao expressed her determination to return to Macao after graduation, and to participate in the development and construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Zeng Yunqing, from Hong Kong said that she felt deeply responsible and proud of her mission to act as the pillar of national rejuvenation and the vanguard of the development of a strong country.

Tan Junliang, also from Hong Kong, said that as students studying finance in the new era, we shoulder the responsibility of the times. We should keep in mind that finance always serves the need of the development of the real economy, and strive to improve our expertise.
