IFLR Honors Dechert Sustainability Bond as “Capital Markets Deal of the Year” in Africa Awards

Dechert LLP's international capital markets team was honored when the International Financial Law Review recognized the Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement (BOAD, or the West African Development Bank)'s issuance of its €750 million 2.750% Notes due 2033 - the first sustainability bond issued from Africa - as "Capital Markets Deal of the Year" at the IFLR Africa Awards 2021.

A Dechert team acted as English and U.S. counsel to BOAD, the regional development bank of the member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union. The issuance also represented BOAD's inaugural sustainability bond and its first Euro-denominated issuance on the international capital markets.

The cross-border Dechert team advising BOAD included London partners Jennifer Rees and Patrick Lyons and of counsel Camille Abousleiman, and Paris associate Benhouda Derradji.

Winners in all categories of the IFLR Africa Awards were announced in an online ceremony on September 9.
