Name: Erin Albers

Organization: DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City

Years of service: Five years

What is your job title and what do you do specifically and how do you support the warfighter? I am an inventory management specialist, and I provide material support by assisting with status updates on purchase requests and contract expedites, bringing in lateral material from other depots and submitting emergency buys for organic manufacture packages for the Air Force to manufacture parts that can't be obtained by any other means. I also brief our command weekly on our Depot Repair Enhancement Program by relaying the most recent actions we are taking to resolve back orders.

What do you like most about your job? I like the people I work with. We are a close team and are always willing to help each other, whether learning new systems, researching purchase request or contract statuses, or helping cover if someone is out. Our supervisor takes the time to teach us, so we are set up for success us so and can progress in our careers.

What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction? Being able to resolve an immediate need from a warfighter gives me the most personal satisfaction. When missing materiel threatens or causes a work-stoppage, and we locate the material at other depots or through an emergency buy to fill that need until the contract delivers is very rewarding to me!

If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them? I would tell them how much I appreciate what they do. As a U.S. Army veteran, I understand how hard it is to be away from your family for an extended length of time and the high level of stress it can cause you and your family.

What are some of your passions outside of work? My kids and I love going to watch University of Central Oklahoma hockey games. Our game night usually starts with going to our favorite pizza spot near the rink. We like to get to the game early so the kids can see the players warm up and, hopefully, get a puck from one of the players. Then, after the game, we stay late to see the players come out of the locker room to visit with the fans, sign autographs and take pictures with them. The kids love to get their picture taken with their favorite players.

What is the most surprising/unexpected thing others don't know about you? I played high school ice hockey for Midwest City High School my senior year, which was the only year our school had a hockey team.

Who is the most influential person in your life? I would have to say my mom and dad are because they have always been there for me to offer their advice on life situations and have kept me in their prayers.
