The reborn Children’s Cultural Center in Durrës, a friendly space for about 1 thousand children

The Children's Cultural Center in Durrës has been transformed thanks to a municipal project, from an old and depreciated space to a decent center, with modern and friendly spaces for about 1,000 children, aged between 6 and 15 years.

The prime minister saw the reconstructed center closely, accompanied by the mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, who said: "This children's cultural hub had been amortized for several years, and when the earthquake hit, some of its parts were damaged. Then we decided with the municipal budget to intervene. It is an object which was partially built in the 30s during the time when the Bank of Albania was built and the next part was constructed during the 70s, when the two buildings were joined. During the reconstruction, we tried to make those elements that belonged to the old building stand out in order to evince the time in which this building was created".

With a total area of about 2,000 square meters, the center offers courses in art, technology, foreign languages as well as table sports.

"For the last two years, we have been represented in "EuroSong" with children from this center. Also in the Balkan Mathematics Olympiads. The ground floor, which only has access from the street, was envisioned to be a painting gallery mainly for children and we thought of naming it after the painter Ibrahim Kodra because we do not have institutions that bear his name. We also have a terrace that will be used for various activities during the spring and summer"- said the mayor Sako.

The reconstruction of the center has also led to the reconceptualization of some facilities in the center, which now welcome the children in dignified and modern conditions.
