Latham & Watkins' New York Office to Move to 1271 Avenue of the Americas

April 30, 2018

Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that it will be moving its New York office to the iconic 1271 Avenue of the Americas, formerly known as the Time & Life Building. The firm has signed a lease for ten floors in the landmark building, and is expected to relocate during the second half of 2020.

Latham & Watkins has been a force in the New York legal market for more than 30 years, when it first expanded to the city. In 1986, shortly after opening in New York, Latham moved into the Lipstick Building, one of the city's most architecturally distinctive buildings. Over the years, the office has become the firm's largest and has grown to more than 120 partners and more than 450 lawyers. Latham has established itself as one of the elite firms in the city with market-leading transactional, regulatory, and litigation practices.

'With a lot of determination, focus, and teamwork, our New York office has grown tremendously since we planted roots in the city more than three decades ago. New York is a top strategic priority and a key market for the firm, just as it was when we arrived here more than 30 years ago,' said Michele Penzer, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in New York. 'Looking ahead, we are excited to move to 1271 Avenue of the Americas, where we expect to continue to build on our success. Many factors informed our decision to move to 1271, including its central midtown location, architectural significance, and top quality renovations, coupled with the opportunity to design a new office. We are excited about relocating to our new building, grateful to our clients and proud of what we have accomplished, and look forward to our next chapter in New York City.'

'The Lipstick Building has been our home since our early days in New York, and it will always hold a special place in our firm's history. The success of our New York office has fueled the growth of our global practice, and we're excited about our future,' said New York-based LeeAnn Black, Chief Operating Officer of Latham & Watkins.
