The Honourable Clay Glennford Sweeting, Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources

"The Honourable Clay Glennford Sweeting, is a native of Spanish Wells, Eleuthera.

Minister the Honorable Clay Glennford Sweeting was sworn to office on Monday, 20th September, 2021 as the Minister with responsibility for Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs. He assumed duty on 21st September, 2021 and has already received both a verbal and tangible brief of matters related to his portfolio - including ongoing projects, new projects, challenges and the financial framework in which we are operating.

Minister Sweeting was born in Spanish Wells, Eleuthera. He is a former fisherman and an entrepreneur. He comes with much experience, in that he served as the Chairman of the Spanish Wells Commonage Committee, a member in Local Government, held the post of Deputy Chairman of the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation, as well as Senator in the Upper Chamber of Parliament where he represented the Opposition. At the age of 35, Minister Sweeting is the youngest member of the Cabinet in the Davis Administration.

Minister Sweeting has a passion for his assigned portfolio and there is no doubt that we will see advancement of innovative initiatives to enhance the agriculture and fisheries sectors. Furthermore, our Family Islands will be top priority for the Minister, as he can relate to their concerns and challenges, considering he hails from the Island of Eleuthera and was elected.
