WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. - The Winnebago County Clerk's Office is "going green" in honor of Earth Day on April 22, 2024. Winnebago County Clerk Lori Gummow will be giving away tree seedlings on Monday, April 22 to anyone that purchases a birth certificate, death certificate or applies for a marriage license. Tree seedlings will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

"What better way to commemorate life and new beginnings than by giving back to the environment," said Clerk Lori Gummow. "I want to thank the Winnebago County Soil & Water Conservation District for generously donating a variety of seedlings. I've been a nature-lover and advocate for over 30 years, and it brings me great joy to do this every year for our planet and community!"

A reminder that couples who wish to apply for a marriage license must apply through the website portal or via the courtesy kiosk located in the Clerk's Office, 404 Elm Street, Room 104, Rockford, Illinois.
