International Day of Yoga Celebrated at ENC

IDY 2022 was celebrated at ENC , where nearly 22,000 naval personnel, defence civilians and their family members enthusiastically participated in Yoga programmes on 21 June 2022. Personnel onboard ships and submarines at sea also practised Yoga as part of the celebration. The Yoga session started with the opening prayer followed by standing and sitting yoga postures, pranayam, breathing techniques and meditation which was based on Common Yoga Protocol released by Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India. All units under the ENC spread across from the ships deployed in the Pacific Ocean, South China Sea, Andaman Sea, to the naval establishments in the states of West Bengal to Tamil Nadu participated in various Yoga related activities. Special Yoga sessions were also conducted in unique forms and places including Aqua Yoga in swimming pool, Airfield Yoga at naval Air station INS Dega, Hilltop Yoga at Dolphin Hill at Visakhapatnam, Yoga in Hospital at INHS Kalyani and Yoga in residential cum community centres. Special yoga-related quizzes and competitions, and lectures by yoga experts for adopting Yoga as a way of life were organized as part of IDY-2022. Yoga has also been made an integral part of morning fitness routines being carried by all units of ENC. To introduce the benefits of this ancient art to young children and families, Yoga is being conducted regularly and has also been included in the curriculum in schools under the ENC. All personnel resolved to make yoga a way of life.
