Structure Fire in the 1600 Block of Frontenac Road

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, Naperville's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from an employee reporting a fire on the roof of an industrial building. A general alarm was dispatched to the structure fire. A general alarm assignment consists of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances and two shift commanders.

Within five minutes of the initial 911 call, the first companies arrived on scene and found nothing showing from a single-story industrial building. First responders went inside to investigate, where they were met by company representatives, who stated they had a fire in a commercial roaster oven, as well as another small fire around the exhaust pipe on the roof. Upon investigation, first responders found fire in the membrane and insulation around the exhaust pipe. The fire was extinguished in less than 15 minutes.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. No other assistance was needed. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Naperville Fire Department determined the fire to be accidental in nature.
