Russian Minister of Defence holds meeting with his Belarusian counterpart

The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergey Shoigu has held a working meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Belarus Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin in Moscow.

Sergey Shoigu called the Republic of Belarus the most import strategic partner, the closes friend and allie of Russia and emphasised the unprecedented pressure of the West under which the countries are developing their bilateral military cooperation.

'The Republic of Belarus is the most important strategic partner, the closest friend and allie for us. The bilateral military cooperation is currently developing in the conditions of the pressure from the West and an undeclared war against out countries', said the Russian Defence Minister.

General of the Army Sergey Shoigu added that the determination of Belarusian people to resist the confrontational course of the United States and its allies, as well as their readiness to form a common defence space within the borders of the Union State, are highly commended in Russia.

In addition, the Minister of Defence of Russia emphasised the necessity to strengthen the defence capabilities of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, including in terms of the unified regional air defence system.

'The circumstances dictate the need to take urgent joint measures to strengthen the defence capabilities of the Union State, to increase the combat readiness of the regional group of troops (forces) and the unified regional air defence system. Nowadays, this is becoming more and more urgent, and the Russian side is ready to provide any support to the Belarusian friends in this', said Sergey Shoigu.

The head of the Russian Defence Ministry invited his Belarusian counterpart to the Moscow Conference on Security, ARMY military-technical forum and the International Army Games 2022.

'I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and Belarusian delegations to the X Moscow Conference on International Security, the International Army Games and ARMY International Military-Technical Forum that will be held in August', said the Russian Defence Minister.

Sergey Shoigu reported that there will be a lot of new and interesting features in the forum as 'we do not stand still, we correct something, add something. Russia is ready to share its best practices with friends and allied'.

In addition, the Minister of Defence recalled that on June 22, the peoples of the two countries marked another anniversary of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War. The Minister has told that a part of the Eternal Flame transported from the Brest Fortress to the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces has become a symbol of unity of Russia and Belarus in resisting aggression and genocide.

Moreover, Sergey Shoigu expressed his desire to support and assist the Republic of Belarus in establishing a centre for patriotic education of youth similar to the Russian Avangard centre.
