Motorist Allegedly Strikes Metro Employee with his Vehicle Over a Parking Ticket

Jacobi Austin, 24, was charged this evening with aggravated assault after he allegedly became upset when an employee of the Metro Nashville Department of Transportation wrote him a parking ticket on 6th Avenue North near Union Street yesterday.

The victim reported that Austin approached him and tried to slap the ticket book from his hand. He continued to write the ticket for an illegally parked Ford sedan when Austin got into his vehicle and struck the victim with the car before driving off. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Austin is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
