To celebrate National Bike Month in May, the City encourages area cyclists to participate in a variety of cycling events and to start pedaling to improve individual and community environmental health. Riders can track their miles and find more information about the Bike Month Challenge in May at lovetoride.net.
Local cycling events this spring include the following:
National Ride a Bike Day - Sunday, May 5
Tour de Lincoln - Hosted by the Great Plains Trails Network, this free event series showcases trails in all four quadrants of the City. The four separate rides begin at 6 p.m. at the Jayne Snyder Trails Center, 228 North 21st St. For more information, visitgptn.org. The schedule is as follows:
Bike to Work Week - May 13 through 19. Events include the following:
Trail Trek - Sunday, June 23 at Speedway Village, 345 Speedway Circle. Join the Great Plains Trails Network on this fun, family bike ride. The event features seven routes, including a Wilderness Park group ride, ranging from 8 to 44 miles. Each participant receives a shirt, lunch, on-trail water and snacks, and more.
