PGE: Second part of “Green Deal, not a Grim Deal” campaign goes live

PGE has launched the second part of its information campaign 'Green Deal, not a Grim Deal,' which aims to draw the attention of EU decisionmakers and the international public to the problematic nature and consequences of a sudden and unjust transition and the fate of local community in the Turoszów region. The campaign also promotes the https://turow2044.pl/ website, which contains detailed information on the Turów case, available in five languages.

The first part of the 'Green Deal, not a Grim Deal' campaign was conducted between 27 April and 24 May. The residents of the Turoszów region signed 10 000 cards with the campaign's graphic design, in which they pleaded to defend the Turów mine and called for a just transition for the region, spread out over time. The cards will be delivered to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The 'Green Deal, not a Grim Deal' campaign will run on dozens of billboards in Brussels between 8 and 21 June.

The Turów energy complex supplies electricity to more than 3 million households and sustains tens of thousands of Poles employed at the complex and in cooperating businesses and their families. An immediate shut-down of mining would give rise to serious geotechnical and environmental hazards, which could lead to an ecological disaster, and re-starting the mine would no longer be possible.
