May is National Bike Month!

May is National Bike Month, and the City of Dublin has several events planned in celebration. All bike programs this month are funded by Alameda County Transportation Commission's Measure B/BB funds.

Urban Cycling 101 - Day One, Classroom Workshop - Saturday, May 11, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the Bray Community Room (100 Civic Plaza)

Register now for Bike East Bay's FREE two-part class for adults and teens (15+ years). You'll learn the rules of the road and safety basics, such as equipping your bike, fitting your helmet, avoiding bike theft, riding after dark, and preventing accidents. A bike is not required for Day 1 of the classroom workshop. Attending this or any of Bike East Bay's other Urban Cycling Day 1 workshops qualifies you to also sign up for the Urban Cycling 101: Day 2 Road Class on Sunday, May 12

Urban Cycling 101 - Day Two, Road Class, Sunday, May 12, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Dublin Civic Center Parking Lot (100 Civic Plaza)

Attending the Urban Cycling 101 Day 1 Classroom Workshop is a prerequisite for the Day 2 Road Class. The class will be split into two parts with on-the-bike practice sessions to practice bike handling and hazard avoidance.

  • Part 1 will include on-the-bike drills in the parking lot.
  • Part 2 will include on-road group practice. Participants are welcome to join for one or both sessions. A functional bike and helmet are required to participate, and participants are expected to be comfortable with the basics of balancing, pedaling, and steering. Bike to Work or Wherever Day - Thursday, May 16, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. - Dublin/Pleasanton BART station and West Dublin/Pleasanton BART station

Join the City of Dublin for the 30th anniversary of Bike to Work or Wherever Day! This is a regional Bay Area event that raises the visibility of bicycling and encourages more people to make healthy, active, and sustainable transportation choices on their way to work, school, or wherever. This event is Bike East Bay's biggest community event of the year, with thousands of bicyclists of all ages and experience levels. Energizer Stations will be hosted by the cities of Dublin and Pleasanton, Hacienda, and Veeva Systems. Ride by and enjoy refreshments and pick up your limited edition BTWD bag! Bike to Market Day - Thursday, May 30, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Ride your bike to the Dublin Farmers' Market at Emerald Glen Park (4201 Central Parkway) between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30,to receive $5 in "Market Money" to use at the Market. REI Dublin will be offering free bike safety checks and adjustments for cyclists that stop by. Cyclists are also invited to join a community bike ride from the Dublin Civic Center to the Dublin Farmers' Market. Cyclists can meet at 100 Civic Plaza at 5:30 p.m. to join the ride.
