On Wednesday, December 12 at 10:30 a.m. ET, join the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) and the Open Markets Institute(OMI) will host a discussion on new research on monopoly, monopsony, and the labor market.
Economists have long recognized that market concentration reduces efficiency and raises prices for consumers. Recent economic research finds that market concentration also has negative effects on labor markets, reducing employment and lowering wages for workers. Economists and researchers from EPI, OMI, and Wayne State University will discuss this new research, including a new EPI paper, and policy responses to market concentration. Federal Trade Commissioner Rohit Chopra will deliver a keynote address.
