We review and update this notice regularly as we reassess the situation and adhere to current government guidelines.

Due to the global COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, EMEC has put the following measures in place to limit exposure of our team, community and stakeholders to the virus.

We'd like to reassure our customers, suppliers, and project partners that we are continuing to operate, albeit with the following precautions in place.

Hybrid home and office working:

In line with the most recent government advice, as of Sunday 12 December, where possible EMEC staff will be working from home until the middle of January.

Communication lines will remain open with staff having access to email, their usual telephone numbers and video conferencing facilities (e.g. via Microsoft Teams). You will find contact details for our team here.

We acknowledge that working remotely may not be as efficient as working together in the office and staff may also be dealing with domestic matters and general concerns about the epidemic. We ask your forbearance if response times are longer than normal or we have to modify our service or procedures during this time.

If staff feel unwell, or if anybody in their household feels unwell, they are instructed not attend the office at all and to follow current public health guidelines.

We may suffer damage to our service if staff are unwell, however we are doing all we can to minimise this.

Meetings:

All meetings will take place via videoconferencing. We already routinely use electronic communications so we don't expect this will change matters dramatically.

When a meeting is unavoidable, we will adhere to current social guidance on keeping distance and avoiding physical contact.

Travel to and from Orkney:

Each trip is being individually risk assessed. Any external meetings should be held via videoconferencing where possible.

EMEC staff out with Orkney:

For our staff living off Orkney, each trip will be individually risk assessed. Trips assessed as high risk, including any air travel, will be cancelled.

Visitors to EMEC:

All planned visits to EMEC are cancelled within the above stated time period.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but the health and safety of our staff, families and community is our paramount concern.

We will update this notice as we reassess the situation over the coming weeks.

If you have any queries or concerns about the above statement, please call +44(0)1856 852060 or email [email protected].

Finally, I want to offer you our support and best wishes. This is going to be a hard time for us all and the economic, social and health outcomes are far from certain or predictable. If you think EMEC can help in some way then please ask.

Take care, and stay safe.

Neil Kermode
Managing Director
