Man arrested on drug charges, suspended license, resisting arrest



JANUARY 13TH, 2018

In the early morning hours on January 13th, 2018, in the City of Albany, along Interstate 787, Troopers from SP Albany conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for equipment violations. New York State Police Investigators say that during the traffic stop, the operator of the vehicle, David Powell, age 47, of Bay Shore, New York resisted arrest, and fled on foot when the Troopers attempted to place him in custody after it was determined that he had a revoked license. After Powell was taken into custody, Troopers located more than 1 1/2 ounces of crack cocaine on him. He was charged with multiple counts of felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st degree (felony), Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration - 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (misdemeanor), Disorderly Conduct, and several vehicle and traffic law violations including operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license with 30 suspensions. He was arraigned in the City of Albany Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail.
