Media advisory: Mayor Johnson to honor Dallas youth lifeguards, aquatics workers

While other cities across the country reported lifeguard shortages that caused facility closures this summer, Dallas' aquatics center remained fully staffed and open.

And during a particularly hot summer, more than 200,000 people visited the city's aquatics facilities. One of the city's facilities - Bahama Beach Waterpark - set a new record for attendance and revenue.

Mayor Eric Johnson will honor the city's aquatics work this summer with a proclamation and an appreciation event for staff, especially the youth lifeguards.
