Denver Human Services Launches Annual #BeAGiver Spring Showers Hygiene Drive to Support the Health and Safety of Denver Residents

The DHSGIVE Center invites community members to donate critical hygiene items in May

DENVER - May 2, 2022 - More than 7,500 Denver residents visit Denver Human Services (DHS) GIVE Center every year seeking critical resources during difficult times. People who visit the GIVE Center are our neighbors, family and friends who come from all walks of life and all areas of the city. The simple ability to purchase critical hygiene items is out of reach for many people who may be struggling to make ends meet. Ordinary items like shampoo or bodywash can make a world of difference for someone interviewing for a job or getting their kids ready for school. Denver Human Services is asking you to be a giver and donate critical hygiene items through May 31 as part of our eighth annual Spring Showers Hygiene Drive.

"Our mission at Denver Human Services is to partner with the community in helping all people in need, including those who would not otherwise have access to critical hygiene items," said DHS Executive Director Jay Morein. "This annual drive ensures that Denver residents have ongoing support with their safety and health, especially during this time of growing affordability challenges."

Denver Human Services aims to collect 1,350 gallons of critical hygiene items that will be distributed to people who visit the GIVE Center. According to the GIVE Center, 70% of visitors are experiencing homelessness. Visitors receive critical hygiene items, like bar soap, maxi pads, laundry soap, sunscreen, or diapers, as well as essential service referrals for food access, medical assistance, clothing, utility assistance and shelter.

There are many ways for donors to support the drive. Denver Human Services invites you to:

In 2021, community members donated over a thousand gallons of critical hygiene items, including essentials like diapers, deodorant, and toilet paper. The most needed items this year include 3-in-1 bar soap, body wash, combs, conditioner, deodorant, dish soap, hairbrushes laundry soap, lotion, maxi pads, razors, shampoo, shaving cream, sunscreen, tampons, and toilet paper.

Beautiful Redemption, LLC is the official hygiene partner of the Spring Showers Hygiene Drive. The drive is also generously supported by our valued sponsor Integral Thread LLC.
