The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) announced this year's winners of the its Most Business-Friendly City in Los Angeles County competition live at the 24th annual Eddy Awards® on November 7 at the JW Marriot at LA Live, naming Duarte winner in the population 50,000 and under category.
'I am so proud of Duarte and all that the community offers to businesses, residents, and visitors,' stated Mayor Tzeitel Paras-Caracci. 'We are growing and flourishing, boasting some big-name employers such as City of Hope, and continuing to attract new businesses and development, which we could not do without the excellent process and services our city staff provides.'
In the past year, Duarte has seen 55 new businesses open from September 2018 to present, with industries ranging from food services, health and wellness, technology firms and several home-based enterprises.
Duarte has had a long history of business-friendly initiatives and activities that have led to a vibrant economy. The city continues to thrive because of its: overarching commitment to providing effective and affordable business services; outstanding and efficient permitting and licensing processes; friendly and attentive staff; and a City Council that is dedicated to facilitating sustainable economic development.
The winners were selected based on the following criteria:
Duarte was a previous finalist for Most Business-Friendly City in 2010, 2011 and 2018; and won the prestigious title in 2012.
