Parliament, Friday, 9 March 2018 - The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Ms Thandi Modise, will lead a multi-party delegation of Members of Parliament to the 62nd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62) at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018.

The 62nd Session of the Commission will take place under the priority theme 'Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls'. Further, the Commission will also consider and make recommendations on how best to utilise the year 2020, on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, so as to accelerate the realisation of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

In attendance at the 62nd Session will be representatives from member states, UN entities and Ecosoc-accredited non-governmental organisations from all regions of the world.
