Gazprom Neft, Yandex and the 'Arctic Initiatives Centre' reveal plans to support residents of St Petersburg's Energy TechnoHub

Gazprom Neft, the St Petersburg City Administration, Yandex and the Arctic Initiatives Centre (an independent non-profit organisation) have signed an agreement on cooperating on the St Petersburg Energy TechnoHub project. Signatories to the document included Alexander Dyukov, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board, Gazprom Neft; Alexander Beglov, Governor of the City of St Petersburg; Elena Bunina, CEO, Yandex; and Andrey Patrushev, Head of the Arctic Initiatives Centre.
A digital platform has been developed to support TechnoHub residents, into which Gapzrom Neft and Yandex plan to integrate a range of virtual B2B services. Supported by this, resident companies will have free-of-charge access to cloud-infrastructure, machine-learning, data-platform and computer-assisted control services.
TechnoHub residents will also have to opportunity to obtain grants to be used through the Yandex.Cloud platform to develop and launch digital solutions. Yandex.Cloud architects will help with migrating, accessing closed testing of new services, and technological support.
Under this partnership agreement the Arctic Initiatives Centre will provide TechnoHub residents with access to its test-site network, giving them the opportunity to test new technologies and equipment prototypes for energy companies. The centre will also provide help and support to start-ups in promoting their developments on the Russian and international markets.
Gazprom Neft and the St Petersburg City Administration are also planning to develop further business benefit programmes, including subsidising relocation costs for scientific and engineering employees from other regions.

Not only are new residents - which today already number more than 130 - signing up, but new partners too. Yandex, given its skills and competencies, will be involved in developing the TechnoHub's digital services. And we're expecting the Arctic Initiatives Centre to be involved in helping residents access universities' and industrial businesses' technology test sites for the purposes of testing innovative developments. Together with our new partners, we will be continuing to actively develop the St Petersburg Energy TechnoHub - a key objective of which is to make St Petersburg the technology capital for Russian oil and gas.'

The St Petersburg Energy TechnoHub project was launched at the end of 2019 at the initiative of the St Petersburg City Administration and Gazprom Neft. Its mission is to attract the engineering, scientific and R&D departments of major industrial and energy corporations to the city, while also supporting local technology companies. One hundred and thirty resident companies, from across 20 of Russia's regions, as well as companies from Belgium and Austria, had signed up to the Energy TechnoHub by the end of 2020. Plans include attracting up to 600 high-tech companies to the project by 2030. This will allow major orders arising from R&D and engineering projects in the energy sector - in which about RUB100 billion a year is invested in Russia - to be concentrated at enterprises and research centres in the city.
