The Official Voter Guide for Bronx City Council Special Elections is Now Live

03/08/2021

NYC Votes has published its official nonpartisan Voter Guide for two special elections in The Bronx for City Council District 11 and District 15. Open the guide by visiting voting.nyc.

This will be the first time that voters in Districts 11 and 15 use Ranked Choice Voting to select a new City Council member. Voters will be able to rank up to 5 candidates in order of preference instead of choosing just one. New Yorkers may learn more about Ranked Choice Voting through the resources available on the NYC Campaign Finance Board's website.

City Council District 11 includes parts of Bedford Park, Kingsbridge, Riverdale, Norwood, Van Cortlandt Village, Wakefield, Woodlawn. District 15 covers part of Bedford Park, Fordham, Mount Hope, Bathgate, Belmont, East Tremont, West Farms, Van Nest, Allerton, and Olinville. Voters in these districts have three options for casting a ballot:

  1. Early voting: Open from March 13 to March 21. Voters may click 'where to vote' on the voting.nyc website to find their early voting poll site, dates, and times of availability.
  2. Election Day: Polls are open for voting in person from 6am to 9pm on the day of the election, Tuesday, March 23.
  3. Vote by mail: Voters must request an absentee ballot by March 16 to vote by mail. Voters may mail in their ballot (postmarked by Election Day), or leave it in a drop box at any poll site or Board of Elections office through Election Day.

The official Voter Guide for the City Council District 11 and 15 special elections is produced as part of the CFB's voter engagement initiative, NYC Votes. NYC Votes creates an online voter guide for every NYC election listing the candidates expected to appear on the ballot. The profile information and photos are submitted by the candidates, all of whom have affirmed that the information provided is true to the best of their knowledge. Candidates without profile information or photos did not respond to requests to participate.

In addition to the voter guide, the CFB's voting help website, voting.nyc, provides information about how to vote by mail, early, or on Election Day, including tools for New Yorkers to research their voter registration status, find their poll sites, and answers to questions about their voting rights and eligibility.
