Volleyball Drops Two at Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa.- Eastern University Volleyball dropped a pair of matches at Messiah College in a tri-match. The Eagles (3-3) fell to McDaniel (4-1) in their opening match before dropping a three-set decision to the hosts in the finale.

How It Happened:
McDaniel hit an impressive .454 for the match. The Green terror built in every set, hitting .359 in the opener and a stunning .667 in the decisive third set. They had only five hitting errors in the match. The Eagles hit for decent percentages in the final two sets, but the McDaniel attack limited Eastern's ability to score on serve. Eastern dropped each of the final two sets by 25-19 scores.

After dropping the first two sets against Messiah (6-0), the Eagles built a 15-10 lead in the third set. The Falcons, however, scored nine of the next 11 points to grab command of the match. Shelby had nine kills and Stenby had 14 digs in the loss.

Coach Birtwistle Says:

'We had a tough day getting our offense involved because our passing was not good enough. We have the ability to terminate when we pass so we will continue to work at making that a positive for our team. '
