New York’s Leading Real Estate Companies Gather for the Fifth Annual NYC JDRF Real Estate Games

Philanthropic Event Generated Over $265,000 for Type 1 Diabetes research

NEW YORK, NY -The JRDF Real Estate Games returned to New York City on June 16^th following a 3-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 event attracted 12 teams represented by staff from major real estate businesses seeking to help raise funds for JDRF, the leading global type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and advocacy organization. The friendly sporting events competition helped raise over $265,000 in support of research funding through this year's event.

The JDRF Real Estate Games were founded 32 years ago in Washington DC by commercial real estate professionals Adam Singer and Rick Kimball. Seven years ago, in 2016, the New York City installment of the competition was founded by Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) President James Whelan, who serves on the JDRF Greater NYC Chapter's Board of Directors. REBNY, the City's leading real estate trade association, proudly participated in the NYC JDRF Real Estate Games on June 16^th at Chelsea Piers.

"The fifth edition of the NYC JDRF Real Estate Games was the most rewarding event to date," said Whelan. "It is another concrete example of the influential position that the real estate industry plays when it comes to philanthropy in New York City. Thanks to this support, we can take more critical actions to improve the lives of millions of Americans with T1D."

The different company teams competed against each other in Dodgeball, Speed Stacking, a "Hot Shot" Basketball Competition, Rock Climbing Relay Races, and the crowd favorite Jenga™-like Tower Power challenge.

Douglaston Development won the competition among the participating sponsored teams that included: Berlin Rosen, Brookfield, Fisher Brothers Management, Glenwood Management Corp., REBNY, Rhodes Associates, RXR Realty, Savills, The Durst Organization, and Tishman Realty Corporation.

In addition to Tishman Realty, the presenting sponsor, sponsors included: SL Green Realty Corp. Two Trees Developments, Equity Residential, Building & Construction Trades Council of Greater NYC, Muss Development, Proskauer Rose LLP, JLL NYC Office, Vornado Realty Trust, and Eastdil Secured LLC.
